Police arrest three women for alleged abuse of baby


KUCHING: Police have arrested three women for the alleged abuse of an eight-month-old baby at a daycare centre in Batu Kawa here.

The baby was allegedly bitten while at the centre.

Padawan district police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz said the baby's mother lodged a report on the incident at about 9.30pm on Tuesday (Jan 7).

He said the suspects, who included the owner and caretakers of the daycare centre, were arrested at 7pm on Wednesday (Jan 8).

"All three suspects, aged 22 to 55, have been released under police bail. The case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001," Supt Mohd Irwan said.

He added that witnesses from the daycare centre had been called to come forward and assist in the investigation.
