Smuggling of tobacco, medical contraband foiled at Rantau Panjang CIQ


KUALA LUMPUR: A Thai woman’s attempt to smuggle contraband including RM16,418 in tobacco and medical supplies has been thwarted by an inspection at the Rantau Panjang Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ).

The Malaysian Checkpoint and Border Agency (MCBA) said the items were seized following checks on a car driven by the Thai woman at about 9.30am on Wednesday (Jan 8).

"We seized 1650 packets of tobacco, two dozen boots and 178 boxes of medication worth RM16,418.00.

"All seized items have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further action," it said in a statement on Thursday (Jan 9).
