PETALING JAYA: Murder victim Yap Xin Yuan's 16-year-old boyfriend and his older brother will be freed on police bail as investigators have been given further instructions about the investigation.
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said the police bail includes a bond under Section 49 of the Criminal Procedure Code requiring them to appear in court at a time to be determined.

"We referred the investigation paper (IP) to the Selangor Prosecution Unit on Thursday (Jan 9).
"However, investigators have been given further instructions on the case,
"Two of the suspects will be freed on police bail on the expiration of their remand," he said in a statement on Friday (Jan 10).
The third suspect, believed to be the boyfriend's father, has been released as he has become a prosecution witness, ACP Naazron said.

"The IP will be referred again to the prosecutors once the instructions have been fulfilled.
"We are taking thorough action to ensure that justice is served," he said.
The suspects were initially remanded until Sunday (Jan 5) but the period was extended until today.
It was reported that the toxicology and post-mortem reports will determine whether 15-year-old Yap Xin Yuan died because of an altercation or possible drug use.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan had said the reports were crucial to determine the cause of death.

"We have to wait for the toxicology report to see if the victim consumed drugs, so we cannot determine for now whether or not she died of an overdose.
"We are also waiting for the post-mortem report to discover the cause of death. The condition of the body is making it harder for pathologists," he said.
The teenager was reported missing after lion dance practice in Batu 11, Cheras on Dec 19.

Her decomposed body was found on Dec 28 at RTB Sg Changgang and police subsequently made several arrests after classifying the case as murder.
Comm Hussein had also said police were trying to determine who dumped Yap’s body in the river.
On claims that police had obtained a confession, he said: "There are parts of an investigation that we can reveal and some that we can't.
"We have to preserve the sensitivity of the investigation."
