Former headmaster claims trial for outraging trainee teacher's modesty

ALOR GAJAH: A former headmaster of a primary school, Mohammed Mohd Som, 58, pleaded not guilty to three counts of allegedly outraging the modesty of a 21-year-old trainee female teacher at the Magistrate's Court on Friday (Jan 10).

He entered his plea before Magistrate Dr Teoh Shu Yee.

According to the charges, the accused allegedly used criminal force against the victim by hugging her and kissing her cheek inside a toilet at Sekolah Kebangsaan Telok Berembang, Lubok China, around 10.40am on Aug 16 last year.

Mohammed also faces two additional charges of allegedly hugging and kissing the victim's forehead inside a car in front of premises at Taman Ilir Jaya and Taman Wira Indah around 11pm on Jan 18 and July 30, 2024.

The charges are framed under Section 354 of the Penal Code for using criminal force to outrage the modesty of a person, carrying a jail term of up to 10 years, a fine, whipping, or any two of these punishments upon conviction.

Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Fikri Hakim Zamri proposed bail of RM8,000 for each charge.

However, lawyer Datuk Hanif Hassan, representing the accused, requested a total bail amount of RM8,000, citing that his client had been transferred to the State Education Department and was no longer serving at the school.

The court granted the accused a total bail of RM7,500 for all three charges.
