Health Ministry rubbishes viral claim of top official's ruckus over no 'VVIP' treatment

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has rubbished allegations that one of its senior officials caused a commotion recently by not being accorded "VVIP" treatment at the Putrajaya Hospital.

Referring to a viral message posted on Telegram last week, the Federal Territories Health Department said while it was true that the official was at the hospital's Emergency and Trauma Department on Jan 4, the allegations of a commotion were not true.

"What was depicted in the posting is baseless. The narrative presented is believed to be intended to tarnish the good name of the official and ruin their credibility," the health department said in a statement on Monday (Jan 13).

It added that a thorough investigation had been conducted into the allegation after the viral post came to light.

"The Health Ministry encourages anyone to file complaints related to the ministry through its public complaint system via https://moh.spab.gov.my/.

"The system is independently managed and does not answer to the state health department or director. Complaints will be managed according to the set procedure," it added.

The viral message, which was shared on Jan 10 by whistleblower account Edisi Siasat had claimed that the senior official had kicked up a fuss for not being given “VVIP” treatment at Putrajaya Hospital on Jan 4.
