Johor floods: 38 SPM student among those displaced


JOHOR BARU: A total of 38 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates in Johor are among those affected by the floods, says state executive councilor Aznan Tamin.

The state education and information committee chairman said the majority of them are seeking shelter at temporary flood relief centres, while five are staying at their relatives' houses.

"Kota Tinggi records the highest number of affected candidates, with a total of 12 students impacted.

"This is followed by Kulai with eight candidates, Pontian with seven, four in Kluang, four in Pasir Gudang, and three in Johor Baru," he said in a statement.

He added that seven of the candidates are sitting for the Additional Mathematics paper on Monday (Jan 13).

"For today (Jan 13), seven SPM candidates affected by the floods will be sitting for their Additional Mathematics paper at designated examination centres.

"In Kulai, there is also one flood-affected candidate sitting for the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination today," he said.
