DUNGUN: The Magistrate’s Court here set Feb 20 to charge a woman with attempted murder for causing the deaths of three Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Dungun campus students in a road crash in October last year.
Magistrate Nur Amirah Fatihah Osman set the date after allowing the prosecution's application for permission to charge Norizan Ismail, 50, as the prosecution had received the woman’s psychiatric report from Permai Hospital, Johor.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Azhani Azman told the court during the case management on Tuesday (Jan 14) that the woman was fit to face trial based on the psychiatric report.
Norizan was first charged with the offence on Oct 15 last year, when the court ordered her to be sent for mental observation following the prosecution’s request as she showed signs of insanity.
The mother of three was charged with murder for causing the death of Muhammad Akmal Md Tukirin, 25; Ku Adib Aizad Ku Azmi, 20 and Khairil Anwar Jamaludin, also 20, at 7.35pm, on Oct 9, 2024, at Jalan Pantai in front of UiTM Dungun.
She was also charged in the Kuala Terengganu Sessions Court with the attempted murder of Muhammad Ammar Danish, who was injured in the crash, at the same time, date and location. – Bernama
