Four killed, five hurt in Kuching crash


KUCHING: Four people were killed and five others injured in an accident involving three cars and two motorcycles at Jalan Stutong here on Tuesday (Jan 14).

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a distress call at 12.59pm with reports of trapped victims.

Personnel from the Tabuan Jaya and Batu Lintang fire stations arrived at the scene at 1.07pm.

"One woman and three men were confirmed dead at the scene, including one trapped in a car who had to be extricated with rescue tools.

"Another woman is in critical condition while four men sustained injuries," a department spokesman said in a statement.

He said the injured victims were rushed to hospital while the deceased were handed over to police for further action.

Bomba personnel carried out clean-up work at the scene and the situation was brought under control at 4.03pm, he added.
