Car washer fined RM7,000 for insulting PDRM


KUALA LUMPUR: A car washer was fined RM7,000 by the Ampang Magistrate's Court here Thursday (Jan 16) for insulting the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) on TikTok.

Magistrate Amalina Basirah Md Top meted out the fine on Myanmar national Ramzan Ali Noor Din, 38, after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

He paid the fine.

Ramzan Ali was charged with insulting PDRM with intent to provoke a breach of the peace by hurling abusive words and baseless accusations at the police.

He was accused of doing so by uploading a video on the TikTok application under the account name "theintheinzaw403" at 5pm on Oct 28.

The charge, under Section 504 of the Penal Code, provides a maximum prison sentence of two years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

DPP Norhidayah Abdullah Sani prosecuted, while the accused was represented by Wan Nur Afifah Che Bakar. – Bernama
