Civil Defence transports Sibu students to school amid floods

SIBU: The Civil Defence Force (APAM) transported a total of 33 SMK Kwong Hua students in Sungai Bidut here to sit for their SPM examinations on

Thursday (January 16) as the flooding shows no sign of receding.

Sibu and Kanowit have been affected by flooding as Sungai Rajang overflowed due to the King Tide phenomenon and intermittent rain since Monday (Jan 13).

APAM Sibu chief Major (PA) Wan Mohd Jabir said that joining the students in their three-tonne lorry were seven teachers and SPM invigilators.

"Our vehicle picked up the students and teachers at a specific location at 5.45am and arrived at the school at 7am. The process was carried out successfully," he said.

"Our men picked them up from their respective locations at 7am and reached the school half an hour later," he added.
