KUANTAN: The Pahang branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has seized 95,000 litres of suspected subsidised diesel, estimated to be worth RM256,500, in raids under "Ops Tiris" at two fish landing jetties and a diesel sales centre in Tanjung Gemok, Rompin.
State Domestic Trade director Jezlily Jamaluddin said the three-day operation, which began on Jan 14, also led to the seizure of five skid tanks, each with a capacity between 18,000 and 30,000 litres, valued at approximately RM63,000, along with stock records and related documents.
"The total value of the seizure in this operation, which involved 21 enforcement officers from Pahang Domestic Trade and the police from Bukit Aman, amounts to RM319,500,” she said in a statement Wednesday (Jan 16).
During inspections at one of the jetties, the authorities discovered a stockpile of diesel estimated at 95,000 litres, exceeding the 60,000-litre limit stated in the Scheduled Controlled Goods Licence (CSA), said Jezlily.
In addition, the premises also failed to provide any invoices for the diesel purchases and had not updated their stock records for controlled goods, she added.
"Furthermore, the inspection team discovered two pipeline outlets containing diesel, connected from a fishing boat to the skid tank. This is suspected to be the modus operandi for transferring the diesel.
"As of now, Pahang Domestic Trade has opened four investigations under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 against two fish landing jetties and a diesel sales centre. Further investigations are ongoing,” she said. - Bernama
