Gas leak at Kuala Nerus restaurant, three workers hospitalised

KUALA NERUS: Three workers have been rushed to the hospital after they fell unconscious from inhaling leaked gas at a restaurant here.

Kuala Nerus fire station chief Azmi Omar said they received a call about the incident at 9.48am and 11 personnel were dispatched to the scene.

"Another restaurant worker saw his three colleagues fainting in the kitchen," he said adding that the man was unharmed.

"Our team ventilated the area by opening the restaurant's doors for three hours and shutting off the LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) valve.

"Based on our inspection, we suspect it was leaked cooking gas," he said when met at the scene.

He added that all three victims, who are in their 20s, were sent to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) in Kuala Terengganu for treatment. – Bernama
