Salesman nabbed over gun and ammo found on Robina Beach


BUTTERWORTH: Police have detained a salesman over an investigation into the discovery of a box containing a pistol, multiple magazines and 67 live bullets on Robina Beach here.

Penang police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the 28-year-old man was apprehended at Teluk Air Tawar around 2.15pm on Wednesday (Jan 15).

"Further investigations are ongoing and the man has been remanded for seven days to assist investigations," he said on Thursday (Jan 16).

On Tuesday, an angler found a box containing the pistol and bullets on Robina Beach at around 4.30am.

The case is being investigated under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act and Section 8(a) of the Arms Act. – Bernama
