Storm warning: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, strong winds expected over eight states, two FTs until 7pm


PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected over eight states and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya until 8pm Thursday (Jan 16).

In an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department at 4pm Thursday, it said the areas affected include Perlis, Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap and Bandar Baharu), Penang (South Seberang Perai), Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar and Muallim), Pahang (Raub, Bentong and Temerloh), Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau and Jempol) and Johor (Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian and Kulai).

In Sarawak, the area affected is Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi).

Malaysia is currently experiencing the Northeast Monsoon.
