Top cop to the aid of injured motorcyclist

KUALA LUMPUR: Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain came to the rescue of a motorcyclist involved in an accident along the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway.

The country's top cop and his officers managed the traffic flow and assisted the victim until he could be taken to hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred at 7.37am on Thursday (Jan 16) when the IGP was on his way to Bukit Aman to attend the monthly assembly.

The injured rider, a People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) member, was changing lanes when the accident occurred.

He was unable to avoid colliding with a car that was also changing lanes at the time.

Coincidentally, Razarudin's vehicle was just a few metres behind.

The IGP immediately got out of his vehicle to help the victim to the side of the expressway and called the emergency hotline for an ambulance, as well as traffic police.

It is learnt that the motorcyclist, in his 50s, suffered leg and arm injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital.

On Tuesday (Jan 14), Razarudin presented commendation letters to police officers and personnel who went above and beyond in serving the public, from accident victims to senior citizens and flood evacuees, as well as those who rejected bribes.
