Faisal Halim acid attack case at dead end

KUALA LUMPUR: Investigations into the acid attack on footballer Faisal Halim have run into a dead end.

While the probe is still open, there are no new leads, Criminal Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said.

He said police have studied nearby CCTV footage, despite claims that they didn’t do so.

“That was how we issued the photofit of the suspect,” he told a special briefing with the media at Bukit Aman yesterday.

“As I have said before, investigations have never been closed.”

On another matter, Comm Mohd Shuhaily said police will revisit the scene where Teoh Beng Hock was found dead.

In November, the Kuala Lumpur High Court ordered the police to complete within six months their investigation into Teoh’s death 15 years ago.

Teoh was found dead on July 16, 2009, on the fifth floor corridor of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam after giving a statement at the Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office on the 14th floor of the building.

“We have revisited the investigation and looked at witnesses that we need to call back for questioning. I have instructed my officers to revisit the crime scene and I have been told that there have been a lot of changes.

“I will go down to the scene myself,” he said, adding that the police are planning to call back witnesses after the Chinese New Year and wrap up investigations by May.
