57-year-old man killed in traffic collision in Taman Cempaka


JOHOR BARU: A 57-year-old man was killed in an accident at Taman Cempaka, here, after his motorcycle collided with a car.

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said the incident occurred on Tuesday (Jan 28) at 3.30pm on Jalan Persiaran Teratai.

“The accident took place when a vehicle, driven by a 20-year-old woman, was making a right turn at the junction of Jalan Persiaran Teratai.

“The car was struck by the motorcycle, ridden by a 57-year-old local man who was travelling from the opposite direction.

“The motorcyclist suffered severe injuries to his head and body and was rushed to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for treatment,” he said in a statement here on Wednesday (Jan 29).

ACP Balveer added that, unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead while receiving medical attention. The car driver, however, escaped unharmed.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
