Police seek suspect in daylight robbery at Teluk Intan


IPOH: The police are looking for a suspect involved in a robbery at Hoover Park in Teluk Intan.

Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said that the police had received a report from a 65-year-old victim on Tuesday (Jan 28) at 8.20am.

"The victim reported that on Jan 28 at approximately 7.06am, while she was making flower garlands in front of her house at Hoover Park, Jalan Sultan Abdullah, 36000, Teluk Intan, a local man approached her, pretending to ask her to make a flower garland for him to buy.

"While preparing the garland, the suspect approached from behind her and grabbed a gold chain she was wearing. The suspect struggled with the victim, who then pushed her to the ground," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 29).

He added that the victim sustained injuries on her neck, hand, leg and hip as a result of the incident.

ACP Ahmad Adnan added that the victim suffered a loss of approximately RM1,500, and only half of the chain was stolen.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code, for voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery.

He urged the public who have information about the incident to contact the police to assist in tracking down the suspect involved.

He said the suspect is described as a dark-skinned, stout body wearing a black helmet and black coloured face mask, as well as a black-and-yellow jacket. He was seen riding a motorcycle, though the victim could not identify the registration number.
