DR Siti Hajar Md Hanif and her family are among the few Malaysians who have the rare opportunity to ring in three major festivals each year.
With a Chinese father-in-law and Indian mother-in-law, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Hari Raya are grand affairs in her household.
The 39-year-old is married to Iskandar Chai Yoong Sang, a 35-year-old medical assistant of mixed Chinese and Indian descent.
“The uniqueness of having an inter-racial family is that it gives you the opportunity to experience the different aspects of being Malaysian and living together harmoniously.
“Our family would make preparations together for every festivity to get a feel of the festive spirit,” she told Berita Harian.
Despite her tight schedule, Dr Siti Hajar said her parents-in-law would ensure the family, especially her three young children, are able to experience the festivities.
