A 12-year-old girl in Chongqing, China, was hospitalised after a firecracker she had lit caused a sewer blast and sent her flying several metres away, reported China Press.
According to local authorities, the incident happened on Jan 27 in Longshui town.
CCTV footage showed the girl lighting a firecracker and placing it on top of a manhole cover then running away.
Before she could take more than half a dozen steps, an explosion shook the ground and sent her flying in the air.
Authorities said the firecracker caused sewer gas under the manhole cover to explode.
The girl is currently undergoing treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.
