JOHOR BARU: The Johor government’s plan to offer starting salaries ranging from RM4,000 to RM5,000 will not be confined to highly-skilled workers.
State education and information committee chairman Aznan Tamin said it will also be extended to those specialising in Islamic studies.
He said the state government is on a mission to produce exceptional religious scholars and speakers who can serve as future leaders in Islamic affairs.
According to Aznan, the Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC) initiative is designed for all students, not just those who pursue Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
“As part of Johor’s broader economic strategy, the state aims to offer competitive pay across various sectors, including for Islamic scholars and professionals.
“Our target is to ensure a salary of RM4,000 is offered across all sectors, not just for high-skilled workers,” he said after visiting students at the Madrasah Alattas Alarabiah Johor who started their Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) 2024 examinations here yesterday.
He said the state government is exploring potential employment opportunities for STAM students, particularly in the Johor Islamic Religious Council and other related sectors.
“Many STAM candidates from Johor have ambitions to pursue higher education in countries such as Jordan and other international destinations. We are looking into how we can accommodate these students after they complete their studies abroad,” said Aznan.
He said the state government is working to provide students with accommodation, scholarship and study loans to ease their educational journey.
