S'wak allocates RM10mil for CCMS at 142 health clinics this year

SIBU: The Sarawak government is allocating RM10mil for the implementation of the Cloud-based Clinical Management System (CCMS) in its 142 health clinics this year, says Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

The Health Minister said that this initiative was implemented in 2024 at 50 clinics nationwide under Phase One, including in Sarawak, which include the Sebauh Health Clinic, Tatau Health Clinic, Bintulu Health Clinic, Telaga Air Health Clinic and UTC Health Clinic, Kuching.

"All of these are under the Federal Government's allocation, while this year, those under the Sarawak government's allocation are the Ba Kelalan Health Clinic, Balai Health Clinic (Bakam), Bario Health Clinic, Batu Danau Health Clinic, Pa' Dallih Health Clinic and Paloh Health Clinic," he said at a press conference in conjunction with his working visit to Lanang and Jalan Oya Health Clinic including Hospital Sibu on Thursday (Feb 6).

Dzulkefly expressed his deepest gratitude to the Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg who provided strong support for the Ministry to implement the CCMS.

"It is very important for us to implement the CCMS program because, among other things, it reduces waiting times from three hours to just 30 minutes.

"And yesterday, the public also found out that they only waited between 15 and 30 minutes to get services at the clinic," he said.

The system enable clinics to link to one another, and be able to access medical records of patients without the need for them to bring along hard copies of their medical records

Sarawak has a total of 271 public health clinics.

Separately, the minister said an additional RM7.8mil had been approved to overcome the moulds issue at Hospital Sibu, and RM1.3mil for the procurement of medical equipment and renovation works.

"This mould problem is there and we want to solve it once and for all so that it won't recur,"he emphasised.

For 2025, the Federal Government, he said, was providing a special allocation amounting to RM100 mil for projects upgrading and the development of new clinics in Sarawak. RM50 mil are for the repair and upgrade of 44 poor clinics throughout Sarawak.

"Under the 13th Malaysia Plan, the Ministry plans to build a new clinic block at Hospital Sibu which involves an increase of 340 beds including for oncology and cardiology services.

"The Health Ministry is also planning to develop a new and more comprehensive Health Clinic complex to replace the increasingly crowded Jalan Oya Health Clinic which has a high number of patients everyday," he added.

Accompanying Dzulkefly in his visit were Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, Sarawak Health Department director Dr Veronica Lugah and Hospital Sibu director, Dr Nanthakumar Thirunavukkarasu.
