Anwar, El-Sisi stand united against Palestinian displacement from Gaza

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim (pic) and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reject any attempts to forcibly remove Palestinians from Gaza.

In a Facebook post on Friday (Feb 13), Anwar said that he had spoken with El-Sisi to discuss the current humanitarian situation and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.

“(We) reject any attempt to force Palestinians out from Gaza, as such actions would undermine the Palestinian cause and efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state,” he wrote in the post.

Anwar also expressed Malaysia’s deep appreciation for Egypt’s ongoing support in facilitating humanitarian and medical aid to the Palestinians suffering from the brutal actions of the Israeli Zionist regime.

During the meeting, the leaders also discussed Japan and Malaysia’s joint initiatives under the East Asia Cooperation for Palestinian Development (Ceapad) to rebuild Gaza.

“This reaffirms that stronger international solidarity is crucial for more effective and meaningful assistance to Palestine,” he wrote.

He reiterated their commitment to strengthening Malaysia-Egypt ties, particularly in areas such as the economy, investment, trade, education, and culture, thereby enhancing cooperation between the two nations.
