WITH the Chinese animated blockbuster Ne Zha 2 coming to Malaysian cinemas, social media in China has been flooded with comments on the incorrect subtitles of the movie.
Sin Chew Daily reported many netizens saying the poor subtitles has marred the critically acclaimed film which had broken records in China and around the world.
Netizens claim this would “create a bad image of China” and such a high-quality production “should have high standards”.
Others, however, defended the film saying audiences should not be “too picky” about subtitles.
Critics said there were seven incorrect subtitles in the 144-minute film, including “hun fei po san” (scared to the extreme) and “xiu yang ji ri” (rest for a few days) where a word in each phrase had been wrongly spelt.
