KOTA KINABALU: Only 40.6% of the 783 development projects approved for Sabah under Budget 2024 have been completed as of Jan 27 2025, with the remainder still in progress, says Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau.
The Tuaran MP presented the figures in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (Feb 26) while requesting details from the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) regarding the status of the projects and the ministries responsible for them.
Responding in a written reply, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), Dr Zaliha Mustafa, said that while 318 projects had been completed, 465 remain under implementation under the Fourth Rolling Plan (RP4) of the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK 12) for Sabah in 2024.
Tangau noted that while 40.6% of projects had been completed, many remained unfinished. He also pointed out that some had been approved under earlier Malaysia Plans, including the 10th Malaysia Plan (RMK-10), but had yet to start.
Meanwhile, the Rural and Regional Development Ministry confirmed that the proposed upgrade of the road connecting Kampung Pahu and Kampung Wasai in Kiulu was not approved under the Fifth Rolling Plan (RP5) of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) for 2025.
In a written response to Tangau, the ministry stated that the proposal would be resubmitted under the First Rolling Plan (RP1) of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) in 2026.
“We have yet to receive any project submission from the Sabah State Government but are aware that the Sabah Public Works Department has plans to upgrade the Tomis Tiong Lokos Kotunuan Lama Wasai road in the future,” the ministry stated.
