Loke praises Chief Secretary’s spot checks on JPJ offices

KUALA LUMPUR: Spot checks by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar to Road Transport Department (JPJ) offices are more than welcome, says Anthony Loke.

The Transport Minister said Shamsul Azri’s checks greatly motivated both the ministry and department.

“I know Tan Sri KSN has carried out spot checks at several Road Transport Department offices and I welcome him to do more.

“All JPJ outlets must be ready at all times,” he said in his speech when launching the second Sentuhan Madani kiosk at KL Sentral on Thursday (March 13).

Shamsul Azri was also present at the launch.

Loke said he appreciated Shamsul Azri’s attention towards government services, adding that it served to motivate the ministry to always do their best.

“This must not be seen in a negative light. All ministry staff must motivate us to improve our services,” he said, adding that the chief secretary’s actions should be commended.

Last year, Shamsul Azri made a surprise visit to JPJ’s headquarters in Putrajaya.

He instructed the department to improve its services and cut down on lengthy waiting times for customers.

The Chief Secretary to the Government said that the visit was to see how operations and services were faring following the department’s move to extend counter operating hours in selected states.

More recently, Shamsul Azri also made an unannounced visit at the Urban Transformation Centre in Kuantan, Pahang.

He said JPJ counter services needed to provide additional seating and service counters due to the congestion caused by the high number of people renewing their road tax.

He also personally contacted the relevant authorities to highlight the issue and urged immediate action to ensure the best possible service for the public.
