A 10-YEAR-OLD boy, who went fishing alone, was lost at sea for days after his kayak drifted away, China Press reported.

Surviving without food and water, he was rescued by another angler some 30km from the bay three days later.

He suffered severe sunburn during his ordeal.

According to the boy, who is from China’s Hainan Island, he ventured out to sea to look for squid but dozed off during the trip.

When he woke up later, he found himself further out at sea with no land in sight.

The Lingshui County Public Security Bureau said the child has returned home safely.

> The reduced prison sentence of a Taiwanese man, who was found guilty of killing Malaysian student Kristine Chai, has sparked outrage online.

Chen Po-yan, 33, had earlier been sentenced to life in prison but recently had his sentence reduced to 18 years and 10 months following a retrial in the High Court.

The decision has caused an uproar among the victim’s friends, Sin Chew Daily reported.

Venting their anger on the Internet, one of them said the murderer deserved to be kept behind bars forever.

“If it was a case of theft, then it makes sense to give him a second chance, but this is murder.

“A lifetime behind bars is what he deserves,” the friend said.

In 2022, Chai, a 24-year-old student of Taiwan’s Ming Chuan University, was found strangled to death in her apartment in Taipei.

Chen, her boyfriend at the time, was eventually found guilty of the murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.
