KUALA TERENGGANU: An express bus driver has been detained after testing positive for methamphetamine during an Aidilfitri enforcement operation at the Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) Bus Terminal here.

Initial investigations revealed that the driver, a local, was scheduled to operate an express bus bound for Pasir Gudang, Johor.

"We have instructed the company to take immediate action by replacing the main bus driver with a substitute to ensure that passengers reach their destination safely.

"JPJ takes drug use among express bus drivers very seriously, as it poses a significant risk to passenger safety.

"We will conduct thorough inspections and checks on drivers and companies to prevent such incidents,” he said at the special operation dubbed Ops HRA on Thursday night.
