Raya cheer: Dr Wee reaches out to those in need


 KUALA LUMPUR: In the spirit of festive cheer this Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong is reaching out to those in need.

The MCA president provided aid to 37 kidney patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment.

"I truly understand the challenges they face, from the financial strain to the long hours spent in treatment three times a week.

"It is a tough journey that affects not just the patients but also their families.

"I hope this support, no matter how small, can help ease their burden and make a difference in their lives," he said in a post on his official social media page on Thursday (March 27) night.

Dr Wee, who is Ayer Hitam MP said this was part of the many meaningful initiatives and programmes with Johor health and environment committee chairman Ling Tian Soon.

He shared that the duo then visited Sumito Senin, who is dealing with the aftermath of a stroke, in Kampung Parit Haji Yusof, Yong Peng, Johor.

"He also requires hemodialysis treatment due to kidney problems.

"I hope our visit brought him some cheer and that the assistance provided can help ease his burden," Dr Wee said.

Dr Wee said Ling who is also the Yong Peng state assemblyman, accompanied him on the visit.

Dr Wee who then visited the Yong Peng police station with Ling, highlighted that while others are on holiday, the police work tirelessly to keep the people safe.

"When we are on holiday, they are still on duty regardless of the time of day.

"They do this for the safety and well-being of all of us," he said.

Dr Wee said he visited the police station to present Hari Raya Aidilfitri contributions.

"This contribution is one of the initiatives from the Johor state government under Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi as an appreciation to the country's frontline workers," he said.
