Single mother alleges assault by babysitter's son

JOHOR BARU: A 34-year-old single mother has alleged that she was assaulted by a man, who is the son of her daughters’ babysitter.

The victim, known only as Goh, claimed that before the incident, the man had also hit her younger daughter on March 15 after the six-year-old allegedly disturbed his sleep.

"After my daughter was hurt, I immediately stopped sending my two girls to the babysitter, as her 33-year-old son lives with her in Tampoi," she said.

On Tuesday (March 25), Goh arranged to collect her daughters' belongings, including books, clothes, and a mobile phone.

"When I arrived at around 9am, the babysitter’s son refused to return the items and demanded that I settle any outstanding fees first," Goh said at a press conference organised by Johor MCA Youth public services and complaints bureau chief Henry Mok on Friday (March 28).

Goh insisted that she did not owe any payments, as she regularly paid between RM1,500 and RM2,000 each month.

"The man then threw my daughters’ books out of the house. Seeing them scattered on the ground upset me, and I chided him.

"He responded with vulgarities before pushing me against the grille of his front door, so I grabbed his shirt in self-defence," she said.

According to Goh, the situation escalated into a scuffle, during which the man allegedly grabbed her and threw her against a parked car.

She suffered cuts on her nose and inside her mouth, along with bruises on her arms and legs.

Goh sought medical treatment at Hospital Sultanah Aminah and later lodged a police report, urging authorities to take action.

When contacted, Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balver Singh confirmed that a report had been filed and that investigations are ongoing.
