KOTA KINABALU: Police have arrested two foreigners and seized materials believed to be used for fish bombing during a raid at Kampung Hidayat in Semporna.

Semporna police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol said the raid was carried out at about 8.30pm on Wednesday following a tip-off.

“Among the items seized were seven non-electrical detonators, two rolls of red fuse, two 18-litre containers believed to contain fertiliser, and three glass bottles filled with processed white fertiliser,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the suspects, aged 17 and 48, did not have valid identification documents and were taken to the Semporna police headquarters for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957, which carries a jail term of up to seven years, a fine of up to RM10,000, or both upon conviction.

Mohd Sabri urged the public to continue sharing information on fish bombing activities, saying police will not compromise with any party involved in such dangerous practices.
