Negri JPJ seizes 301 high-end vehicles in op luxury

SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan Road Transport Department (JPJ) has seized 301 luxury vehicles, including Lamborghinis and Ford Mustangs, in a statewide operation conducted from January to August this year.

State JPJ director Jasyindar Singh Sihdu said most of the luxury vehicles were found to have unpaid road tax amounting to between RM600 and RM35,000.

"Other offences detected included driving without a valid licence, vehicles not complying with approved specifications, the use of fancy registration numbers and altered registration plates intended to avoid detection,” he told reporters here Thursday (Aug 27).

He said JPJ had also taken action against 274 non-Malaysian drivers for various offences from January to July this year, compared with 138 cases recorded last year.

Pakistani nationals accounted for the highest number of cases at 111, followed by Indonesians with 73 cases, Bangladeshis with 49 and nationals of other countries with 41, he added. - Bernama
