Over 1.1 million businesses to benefit from higher e-invoicing threshold, says LHDN

CYBERJAYA: The announcement of a higher threshold for e-invoicing will benefit more than 1.1 million businesses, says the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN).

With the higher threshold, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) with an annual income or sales of less than RM3mil will not be required to implement e-Invoicing, it said.

"In line with the announcement made on Aug 30 by the Prime Minister at the 2026 National Day Premier Address, the government has agreed to raise the e-Invoice implementation threshold from RM1mil to RM3mil, effective from Sept 1.

"With the higher threshold, MSMEs with an annual income or sales of less than RM3mil will not be required to implement e-Invoicing.

"The announcement will benefit more than 1.1 million businesses that qualify for the exemption," it said in a statement on Sunday (Aug 30).

LHDN said the initiative reflects the government's concern for easing the compliance burden and costs borne by MSMEs, while allowing businesses to continue focusing on sustaining and expanding their operations.

"Nevertheless, the government strongly encourages MSMEs to participate voluntarily in the implementation of e-Invoicing, in line with the country's aspiration to digitalise businesses," it said.

LHDN said since e-Invoicing was implemented on Aug 1 2024, a total of 265,379 taxpayers have submitted e-Invoices, involving the issuance of more than 1.84 billion e-Invoices.

"This achievement demonstrates a good level of acceptance among taxpayers, including MSMEs, of e-Invoicing as a transformational measure to digitalise business operations and ensure that transactions are properly recorded and stored," it said.

Further details on the implementation of e-Invoicing are available at https://www.hasil.gov.my/e-invois.

LHDN said it is committed to ensuring the smooth implementation of e-Invoicing by taking a proactive approach through educational activities, hand-holding programmes and continuous engagement sessions.

"These initiatives also include guides and tutorials on using the MyInvois Portal, MyInvois application and MyInvois e-POS to improve awareness and understanding of e-Invoice implementation among MSMEs," it said.

Taxpayers may contact HASiL through dedicated e-Invoice channels for further assistance and advice, such as vising its office, using the MyInvois Live Chat and calling the Help Desk at 03-8682 8000, which operates 24 hours a day;

They can also email myinvois@hasil.gov.my for general e-Invoice enquiries or submit the MyInvois customer feedback form at https://feedback.myinvois.hasil.gov.my
