Technician arrested over road rage incident near Sungai Besi

KUALA LUMPUR: A technician was detained in connection with an alleged road rage incident in which a stone was thrown at a vehicle near Sungai Besi along the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway, damaging its rear windscreen.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rosdi Daud said the man, in his mid-30s, was arrested at the roadside along Jalan Suasa 3 in Sungai Besi at about 1.15am on Sunday (Aug 30).

“The suspect is believed to have been involved in an incident in which a stone was thrown at a vehicle on the Sungai Besi KL-Seremban Expressway, causing its rear windscreen to shatter,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

ACP Mohd Rosdi said the incident was reported to have occurred at about 2pm on Saturday (Aug 29).

He said initial investigations revealed that the incident was believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding on the road.

“The suspect was allegedly dissatisfied and claimed that the complainant's vehicle had hampered his vehicle, which led to the incident,” he said.

ACP Mohd Rosdi added that the Magistrate's Court had granted police a three-day remand order against the suspect until Sept 1 to facilitate further investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief.
