Police presence heavy outside Najib's residence amid talk of RM50mil fine payment

KUALA LUMPUR: A slew of activity can be seen outside former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's home here on Friday (Nov 6).

Members of the media have been on standby following word that the former prime minister might pay his RM50mil fine that would enable him to start his house arrest.

The road leading directly to his home has been cordoned off by police and patrol cars can be seen in the area.

Around noon, Najib's lawyer Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Shafee was seen at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex.

He entered the Criminal High Court registry office with Najib's special officer Ahmad Lutfi Azhar, with both leaving the office at around 12.10pm.

When asked by The Star what transpired inside the registrar's office, Muhammad Farhan said "got some work to do".

On Sept 18, it was reported that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim had granted Najib a conditional pardon in his SRC International Sdn Bhd case, allowing him to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028.
