Bitcoin futures briefly breached the US$20,000 mark as trading commenced on the world’s largest futures exchange at CME Group, before pulling back to US$18,630 per contract in early trading.
January contracts, the most popular types, reached a record US$20,650 before trading began, but pared gains about three hours after transactions started. Contracts for February, March, and June all traded around US$20,000 at the same time.
