Fuziah: Halal certification has always been under Jakim's purview

PETALING JAYA: Issuing halal certification has always been the purview of the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and has never fallen under the management of any other government agency, says Fuziah Salleh.

The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of Islamic Affairs said that Jakim's Halal Management Department manages matters pertaining to certification procedures, halal definitions and assurance management systems.
