TWO videos have gone viral showing three young girls standing in a luxury MPV with their heads out of the vehicle's sunroof as it drives down a busy street supposedly in Ipoh.

Is it true that this happened?

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said in a statement on Facebook that police have identified the driver and the passengers involved in the incident.

According to him, police first detected the two videos that went viral, one 24 seconds long and the other nine seconds long, on Thursday (March 2) after they were uploaded to a Facebook group.

"In the video, three young girls can be seen behaving in a dangerous manner by standing in a vehicle and hanging out of the sunroof while it is moving on the road," said ACP Yahaya.

"We began investigations into the matter after a report was made.

"We found that the incident occurred on Wednesday (March 1) at 10.40pm at Jalan Sultan Idris Shah in Ipoh," he said.

"The girls involved were aged between 13 and 16. At the time of the incident, their parents were in the vehicle," he added.

"We are currently in the process of ascertaining the identity of the individual who took the video recording to assist with investigations," he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 336 of the Penal Code and Section 31(1)(A) of the Children's Act 2001.

ACP Yahaya urged members of the public with information concerning the case to step forward and call the investigation officer ASP Yap Siew Cheng at 012-909 3362.
