A MAN made a grisly discovery at a bus stop in Kulai on Wednesday (April 12).
Is it true that he found a woman's body in a bag?
Verdict:
TRUE
A badly decomposed body of a woman was found inside a bag at a disused bus stop in front of the Tenaga Nasional Berhad building in Kulai, Johor, said Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow.
Police received a distress call from a local man who made the grisly discovery at 1.50pm on Wednesday (April 12), he added.
He said that police officers, including personnel from the Johor police headquarters' forensic unit, were immediately deployed to the scene to investigate.
"It was impossible to identify the sex, age and time of death of the victim at the scene as it was more than 50% decomposed.
"We then sent the body to Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru to carry out a post-mortem examination," he said in a statement on Thursday (April 13).
He said the hospital's pathology expert carried out the post-mortem between 11am and 2.30pm on Thursday.
"The initial post-mortem showed that the victim was a female who was over 25 years old. It is estimated that the victim died more than two weeks ago.
"There were also visible injuries to her head but the cause of death will only be determined after laboratory tests," he said.
He added that police had initiated an investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and urged those with information to contact the district police hotline number at 07-663 2222.
