THOUGH waiting for public transport is an everyday routine for many Malaysian commuters, certain events can cause a shocking surprise during an otherwise common experience.
Recently, it was claimed on social media that a dead body was found at a bus stop at Jalan Utama in Pending, Kuching. Is this true?
VERDICT:
TRUE
In a statement, Kuching district police acting head Supt Merbin Lisa confirmed this and added that an investigation of the body did not show any foul play and there were no documents on the deceased.
He said that the initial investigation by the medical officer who was at the scene confirmed that the man had died during the last 24 hours.
"The man is believed to be aged between 45 and 50 with a height of 165cm and weighing 60kg. When found, the deceased was not fully clothed, wearing only brown short pants," said Supt Merbin.
He added that the case has been classified as sudden death, and said that the man's body is being kept at the Sarawak Hospital forensic unit temporarily until the postmortem is conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
Supt Merbin said that the victim's next-of-kin or anyone with information on the deceased can call the IPD Kuching at 082-244444 or Sergeant Major Siti Mariam at 016-4461345 to help in the investigation and identification.
