WITH reports constantly surfacing of bogus investment schemes purportedly run by government agencies, the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (Mida) is reportedly the latest target.
Has Mida's name been misused to promote a syariah-compliant investment scheme?
VERDICT:
TRUE
The agency said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (May 16) that a poster claiming it is promoting an investment scheme has gone viral on social media but is not true.
It said the "Pelaburan Amanah" and "Pelaburan Patuh Syariah" advertised on the poster had misused its name, logo and the image of an officer.
"The message is false and has been (spread) by irresponsible people," it added.
Mida is a promotion and investment development agency under the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry to coordinate and encourage investment in the industrial sector and related services in Malaysia.
It said official information on its activities can be obtained at www.mida.gov.my.
