SCAMMERS are said to be posing as representatives from the Social Security Organisation (Socso) to get people to reveal personal information over the phone.
Has Socso now been added to a list of impersonation victims that already includes the Social Welfare Department, the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority, local banks, as well as the police and Inland Revenue Board?
VERDICT:
TRUE
In a recent statement on its official social media channels, Socso warned the public to beware of such scam callers.
"We have received complaints regarding calls made purportedly on behalf of Socso.
"These fake calls are malicious because they manipulate the caller for information.
"We take this matter seriously.
"Do not be easily convinced by these scammers' tricks," the statement read.
