HARI Raya Aidiladha is a time to be grateful for the blessings received and for Muslims to donate food and alms to the poor.
And if you believe a social media post that has gone viral, the Malaysian government apparently agreed to do just that by handing out RM1,500 in cash aid to the poor.
Is this true?
Verdict:
FALSE
According to a post on both his official Facebook and Twitter accounts on Sunday (June 25), Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil says the claim is false.
"This is fake news, please be aware," he said.
According to the viral post, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced that the government would distribute RM1,500 in cash aid for Aidiladha to eligible recipients.
