IN an era when many of us are looking to grow our money, investment options are tempting – especially if they appear to be endorsed by a regulatory body like Bank Negara.

Recently, posts appeared on social media that advertised an investment scheme and the ads came with Bank Negara's logo on them.

Are scammers misusing Bank Negara's logo to fool potential investors?

A warning about this was issued in a post on the police's official Facebook page, saying that the public should be cautious as investment scam syndicates were misusing Bank Negara's logo to convince potential victims.

“(The public) should be vigilant and do a check before making any investment transactions. The authenticity of any investment scheme can be checked at several websites,” said the police.

It listed the websites as;

1. http://www.sc.com.my/investor-alert

2. https://www.bnm.gov.my/financial-consumer-alert-list and

3. https://ccid.rmp.gov.my/semakmule
