QuickCheck: Did an intoxicated man crash into vehicles in PJ while evading police?


THE long arm of the law can send people running, especially when they've got reason to fear the sirens and the flashing blue lights.

Recently, it was said that a man high on methamphetamines crashed into three parked vehicles when trying to escape the police. Is there any truth to this?

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid confirmed this, saying that the incident occured at 7.25pm on Tuesday (July 18).

"Our motorcycle patrol units were making their rounds when the spotted a man behaving suspisciously in a pickup truck along Jalan 19/1," he said.

"They attempted to stop the vehicle but it sped off and rammed into three parked vehicles near Plaza 33 here," added ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin in a statement on Wednesday (July 19).

He said an individual suffered leg injuries due to the incident

"A 43-year-old man was arrested following the incident and a urine test came back positive for methamphetamines. The suspect has been remanded for four days," he said urging the public to cooperate with the police and refrain from breaking the law.
