FOOD has always been a big part of our lives, especially to Malaysians. Exotic food is so much more than just deep-fried spiders and crickets. And discovering them takes you to a whole new realm of gastronomy.
Though it’s certainly not for everyone, it’s no doubt an interesting culinary adventure for foodies. But is it true that rocks are really served as a dish in some parts of China?
Verdict:
TRUE
The "rock" dish that recently broke the Internet is a delicacy in the Chinese province of Hubei. The bizarre cuisine has raised some eyebrows, but it surely offers food lovers a rockin' experience.
Locals named it "suodiu", which means suck and dispose. The pebbles, cooked in spices, chilli oil and garlic sauce, sizzling over the iron griddle pan, gives diners a taste of the sea.
The flavoured rocks, however, are not edible but people can enjoy the experience by sucking out the flavours.
Customers are even allowed to bring the rocks home for keepsake! Those with a curious palate will enjoy this refreshing experience.
