AN advertisement making the rounds online purports to offer an astounding profit of over RM26,000 a day through transactions conducted by a "professional" and "with no hidden charges".
It also uses the names and logos of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB) and an image of a top executive. Are scammers misusing PNB's unit trust management company’s identity to dupe users?
VERDICT:
TRUE
In a statement on Facebook, PNB has warned the public to beware of an attempt by unscrupulous parties to hoodwink them using this bogus advertisement.
"We wish to remind... the public to be wary of attempts by parties misusing PNB or ASNB's name and logo or posing as our president and group chief executive, ASNB's chief executive officer, senior management team and officers to... invest, make payments, provide confidential data or participate in illegal activities," the statement read.
It said the scammers may reach out via WhatsApp, email, web links, brochures and text messages, among other methods.
It encouraged anyone receiving such communications to check with PNB first via email at info@pnb.com.my or the ASNB customer service centre at asnbcare@pnb.com.my; or by calling the centre at 03-77308899.
