CATS seem to have a habit of knocking things off counters, so much so that it's become a cliche that many are familiar with.
That said, it was claimed recently that a cat caused a laboratory at the Department of Science, Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) in Gelugor, Penang to be evacuated after knocking over bottles containing chemicals.
Is there any truth to this?
VERDICT:
TRUE
This was confirmed by Jalan Perak Fire and Rescue Station operations chief Fauzian Izzuan Abdullah, who said that 16 personnel including a Hazmat special team from Bayan Baru were deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 4.48 pm on Tuesday (Oct 10).
In the incident, a cat had snuck into the laboratory and knocked over 10 bottles containing liquid sodium dihydrogen before an assistant noticed the incident.
"We took immediate action to evacuate the building to allow the Hazmat team to carry out decontamination work,” he said in a statement.
Fauzian Izzuan said no victims were involved in the incident, and the operation ended at 6.47 pm.
