RECENTLY, a poster went viral; it is claimed in the poster that Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu had said that Malaysia must emulate America when it comes to issues of rice supplies.

In a statement, the ministry denied issuing such a poster on the rice issue and added that what has gone viral is slanderous and incorrect.
"The Minister's Office has reported the matter to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for further action," it said.
"The public is advised to check first the veracity of all content that goes viral so as not to be easily deceived by slander, which is the work of irresponsible parties," added the ministry.
