RECENTLY, two videos went viral; a man can be seen stealing a car in the first video, while the second shows him being arrested by police with the help of the public.
The sound of children crying in fear can be heard in the videos, and it is claimed that six school students were in the car when it was stolen near Kundasang, Sabah.Is this true?

In a statement, Ranau OCPD DSP Simiun Lomudin said that the incident happened as seen in the videos, adding that it happened in front of a sundry shop in Kampung Pinosuk, Kundasang at about 5pm on Tuesday (Oct 31).
He said that all children in the car were successfully rescued by the public and police personnel who were able to stop the vehicle.
“The suspect is believed to have stolen the car while six students from a school were inside. He was successfully arrested and the videos of the incident have gone viral on social media. The police have also received information about the videos,” said DSP Simiun.
“The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for car theft and Section 365 of the same Act for kidnapping,” he added.
DSP Simiun then said that anyone with information on the incident can come forward to the Ranau IPD to assist with the investigation.
